Aah….our final post of 2014, and truly what a year it has been!
Packed with photo shoots, incredible events and competition wins, Shelley’s passion for styling has taken her and the team on ventures throughout the UK and Europe, sparking a year full of highlights and unforgettable memories.
So we wanted to share with you a little timeline of our favourite moments, hoping that all our clients had a lovely christmas and wishing you a Happy New Year!
Following a competition win at Salon International 2013, Shelley got the opportunity to train at The Sassoon Academy, London.
Feb. ghd liked it
ghd started to notice Shelley’s work. They shared several of her images on their Instagram.
Mar. Bridal Photoshoot
Award Winning Photographer, Dan Morris, took these shots of our lovely brides, Shelley and Jessica at the beautiful location, WestonbertSchool.
Apr. A Salon baby arrived!
Our Eloise welcomed her first baby, Tommy. Who in all seriousness is like THE.CUTEST.BABY.EVER. I know that title gets thrown around a lot…so I have included this photo as proof *Heart Melts*
May. Hensol Castle photoshoot got printed
She looked so beautiful, and even got her hair did twice. Once for each of her two wedding parties, stretching the celebration out for a week. Diva!
Shelley finally got her ink
After ten years of thinking time, Shelley finally got THAT tattoo. Her back piece is undeniably epic and took award winning tattooist Nipper from Bridgend Tattoo Studio nine sessions to complete. Nipper worked on the piece for ten months, but no pain no gain, and it was totally worth it.
Jul. Welsh hair and beauty awards
Shelley’s Salon became the ‘Overall winner’ of this years Welsh Hair and Beauty awards, after picking up the title of ‘Salon of the Year‘ and ‘Women’s Stylist of the Year‘.
and the very next day….
Shelley was invited to become part of the UK Creative Art Team for Italian brand Milk_shake. That week there was a lot of exciting news to sink in. Shelley was being flown to Milan for her induction, but we had her Birthday to celebrate first, and there was a new recruit to the team, our Kim, who is now affectionately known as ‘Kimothy’.
Aug. The Mad Hatters Tea Party
Lots of cake. Not much tea. We got dressed up and had a blast. The night culminated in a hilarious snap chat that proved Kimothy to be a bit of a wild one. I’ve asked can I include it. She said no. From here things got just a little bit crazy..
Shelley went to Milan
Where she met the rest of the UK Art Team, and had the pleasure of working alongside the Italians. At Z.one Concept / Milk_shake HQ she was trained for the new collection ‘The Art of Matter’
Sep. Milk_shake UK tour
Shelley and the team worked on shows in locations throughout the UK
In the Algarve with Z.one Concept..
Shelley joined the rest of the UK Art Team on stage in Portugal. The collection, The Art of Matter, was inspired by the elements. Alongside finalist for British Hairdresser of the Year (Southern Region) David Baker, Shelley created dynamic looks that captured the element Wind.
Oct. Project SteamPunk commenced
As soon as we go back it was all project SteamPunk. We researched the movement that inspired the collection, made mood boards, created centrepieces, handmade costumes…Shelley even engineered her own headpieces using copper and iron. Nov. The Show
On Sunday November 2nd all the hard work came to fruition and Shelley and the team took to the stage. The show, sponsored by Gilmor hair and Beauty and salon brand Milk_shake and took place In the village hotel, Cardiff. Here, Shelley, the team and David Baker, put exhibited their incredible SteamPunk collection.
